Description Of ItemThe collection is a micture of items belonging to Dr Beverly Bergman and to her husband Ian Melville.

Melville husband was a senior pharmacy technician in the army, training in the early 1960s, and later technical quartermaster (ie hospital supplies officer) up until he left the Army in 1982.

Bergman was a public health physician and former army general practitioner by background, she qualified in medicine in 1976 at the University of Birmingham, and her early years were spent in military primary care, working in Germany, Northern Ireland, Hong Kong, Cyprus and Belize. She then trained in public health, becoming a consultant in 2000 whilst working in the Army Medical Directorate. In 2007, she was appointed Army Parkes Professor of Preventive Medicine, a position she held until her retirement from the Army in 2012 after a full career in the RAMC, finishing in the rank of Colonel. Her last military appointment was as Military Medical Liaison Officer to the Scottish Government. She has also sat as a Medical Member of the Pensions Appeal Tribunal for Scotland (War Pensions and Armed Forces Compensation Scheme), and formerly in the First Tier Tribunal (Social Entitlement Chamber).
