| Description Of Item | The Scottish Medical Advisory Committee was established by the Department of Health under the proposals of the Medical Planning Commission. It was proposed by the Department of Health for Scotland that a member be added to the list of members of the Advisory Committee to represent the Royal Colleges of Scotland. However, as it could not be agreed that one member be sent to the committee from each of the Colleges they declined and remained unrepresented on the committee. The Colleges were, however, 'represented on a United Kingdom Committee and a Scottish Representative Committee established to keep government policy under review'. The papers here consist of correspondence between the committee and the Colleges with regard to the proposals for representation of the Colleges. |
