DescriptionCraig graduated from Glasgow University with a BSc in Naval Architecture. After a period working for the Clydeside shipyards he studied medicine at Edinburgh University and graduated MB in 1930 and MD in 1933. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in the same year.

He was an assistant to Professor Charles McNeil, the original holder of the Edward Clark Chair of Child Life and Health at the University of Edinburgh, and built a reputation in paediatrics. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1936.

Having moved to England, during the Second World War Craig was medical officer in charge of the South East region. After the war he returned to clinical practice and became the first Chair of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Leeds , a post he held until his retirement in 1968.

When the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh was considering how best to celebrate its tercentenary in 1981, the then President Christopher Clayson proposed a new history of the College. Craig was given the job and was working on it when he died in 1975.
