DescriptionThe Club was founded in 1844 as a social club for medical practitioners from Edinburgh and Glasgow. The original club closed in 1851 but was revived in 1890 by Sir Andrew Douglas Maclagan, Professor of Medical Jurisprudence at Edinburgh University, and one of the other original founders of the Club, and William Tennant Gairdner, Professor of Medicine at Glasgow University. The Club appears to have closed again in 1911.
