TitleCased papers of William Pulteney Alison
Date1820s - 1859
Description Of ItemAccording to a note in the original catalogue, these papers were found grouped together in 22 leather folders. The previous archivist used the letters A-V to represent this division into folders. The first nine folders were originally numbered with the roman numerals used in the entries and after that the folders had titles which are given. The handwriting in the draft notes and articles is very poor so the subject matter is often conjecture. Within a folder, it is not known whether the bundles were grouped together by the previous archivist or whether this was how Alison himself ordered his papers. The majority of the items are not titled (titles in square brackets have been created) and consist of miscellaneous pages on a roughly similar subject rather than a complete essay

During previous cataloguing, items may have been moved out of this series, as cross references to items in other series are given in the catalogue. This catalogue can be consulted should additional information on original order be required.
