| Description Of Item | Alison was one of the first physicians at the dispensary after it was founded in 1815. He published quarterly reports on the dispensary in the 'Edinburgh Medical and Surgical Journal' from 1817 to 1819. His life-long concern with the welfare and health of the poor doubtless stemmed from his experiences in this post, where he made numerous home visits. It is not known whether these volumes were the main record series of the dispensary or whether they were records Alison kept for his own use. |
