Description Of ItemThe volume contains notes on the public health organisation at Lunghua (Longhwa) internment camp, which housed Canadian and American prisoners of war at the Lunghua Civilian Assembly Centre in Shanghai during the second world war. The notes describe various labours at the camp relating to public health, as well as notable health issues occurring throughout the camp, including outbreaks of chicken pox and malaria, as well as the infection of water tanks with larvae and mosquitos, or flooded rice paddies, and external disasters such as typhoons. Notices from around the camp of work relating to the public health of the camp e.g. drainage construction and infected water tanks, and meeting minutes of the Public Health Department have been pasted into pages.

Inserts include receipts from the International Red Cross Committee of gift parcels delivered to the camp and transfers.
