DescriptionMargaret Elizabeth Duncan was born in 1937 in Glasgow. She lived in East Africa when she was young, being educated in Kenya and Scotland. She graduated MB, ChB from Edinburgh University in 1961. Duncan specialised in obstetrics and gynaecology. Duncan returned in 1970 to Ethiopia as Assistant Professor, later Associate Professor, of obstetrics and gynaecology. Duncan headed up the A9 study, the ninth MRC study in Addis Ababa, which was intended to be a prospective study with review of a cohort of children and their mothers in the context of leprosy study.
