Title'Sir John Pringle's Medical Annotations - Passages Relevant to his Biography' by Charles H Gordon
Datec1988
Description Of ItemThe work is divided into four sections. His first section 'Extracts from the 10 Volumes' gives a page by page analysis of each volume with notes on Pringle's correspondents and with some parts copied out in full. This is followed by Pringle's article on colica pictonum which Gordon uses to demonstrate how the articles spanned the different volumes and what a challenge this would have presented to any prospective printer.

The second section is headed 'Military' and contains all references in the volumes to both Pringle's military observations and those of his correspondents.

The third section is headed 'Richard Huck's Contributions' and starts with a note on the association between Huck and Pringle. Again this contains all references in the volumes to Huck and his work.

The fourth section is headed 'Correspondence with Leading Continental Physicians' and gives all references in the volumes to Albrecht von Haller, Jan Ingenhousz, Giovanni Baptista Morgani, Nicholas Rosen von Rosenberg, Jean Baptiste (de) Senac and Gerard van Swieten. He includes biographical information on each one.
