| Description Of Item | Other than items at HAL/5/1-6, these items all have contemporary running numbers. It is not known what these signified and some are missing or re-numbered. It is also not known how Hamilton came to have these often confidential papers of the French army. One possibility, suggested by Lisa Rosner, author of Hamilton's biography 'The Most Beautiful Man in the World', is that he bought them in Paris.
