The letters ask for orders (6th July), request supplies (11th July), complaint of a fellow officer (12th July), request a uniform specific to his rank (13th August) etc. The letter to is uncle (20th August) concerns his promotion to Surgeon to the Forces, written while stationed at the valley of Bastan in the Pyrenees. The letters become more draft in nature as the volume progresses and there are three inserts towards the rear. At the rear are copies of two letters signed by B D'Urban probably in Portuguese but may be Spanish. |
