Description Of ItemThe volume is pre-printed and the title pages describes it as 'The Medical and Surgical Pocket Case-book designed for the Registration of Important Cases, occurring in the Private Practice of Physicians, Surgeons and General Practitioners intended to present in a tabular form the History, Phenomena and Progress of Disease; and to exhibit the Results of Treatment from Day to Day by James Part'. This is followed by a page of explanation on how to use the book.

Each entry requires a date; name, age and occupation; general appearance; mode of life; history of symptoms; present state; and diagnosis with three pages for a diary of treatment with space to record urine, circulation, respiration etc. Index at rear giving patient's name, nature of case, duration and results.

In the front of the volume is a letter from Sir Arthur Hall, Professor of Medicine at University of Sheffield and son of John Hall, to Finch dated 14th March 1947 and donating the volume to the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
