Description Of ItemFrom the collection of Arnold Meiklejohn. Although all these papers were in the one folder there is a clear divide by subject between Meiklejohn's work in Iran and his work for UNRRA and the Oxford Nutrition Survey. Items in folder one were in a flap at the front of the folder and relate to Iran. The other two folders are arranged in the order in which they were originally kept. Folder 1 - letters with expenses claims by Meiklejohn for his journey from the UK to Abadan, correspondence on the terms and conditions of his employment, correspondence with J A Jameson, Managers of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, Sir Edward Mellanby, Frank Marsh etc and letters about the distribution of cod liver oil amongst the children in the area; and draft article by Meiklejohn on the health situation in Abadan.

Folder 2 - 'Nutrition in Belgium' by Meiklejohn with additional notes and a list of medical men in Belgium who could provide information on nutrition; summary of international research by H E Magee, Ministry of Health giving the doctor's name, institution and area of research; interview with Czech nutritionists, 1944; Oxford Nutrition Survey Preliminary Report on Nutritional Surveys in the Netherlands, 1945; Report on the State of Nutrition in France 1941 to January 1945 by Dr Arnold Meiklejohn for Dr Andrew Topping, UNRRA; report on the nutritional conditions in the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil by Arnold Meiklejohn, T H Stephens and Phyllis Williams, 1942, draft and final copies.
