TitleCollection of Medico-Chirurgical Club
DescriptionThe Medico-Chirurgical Club of Edinburgh was founded in May 1821 with the objects of receiving communications on medicine and surgery, conversing on medical subjects and publishing significant submitted papers. Andrew Duncan senior was the Society's first President and Robert Hamilton the first secretary. In 1831 a plan was drawn up to collect and collate medical cases from among its members to be compiled into volumes dealing with specific branches of medicine and surgery. Although this series of case histories was not followed up, complete reports of the Society's proceedings were published on a regular basis.
