Description Of ItemFrom the collection of Robert Philip. 103 photographs. In the front of the volume is a letter from Henry Gauvain from the Hospital to Sir Robert Philip thanking Philip for the compliment of saying that he would put the photographs received in a special album. There is an accompanying contemporary list of the photographs and the captions in the album correspond to the captions given in the list. However, the photographs were not put into the album in the same order. The subjects are babies and children and some photographs show the same patient before and after surgery or treatment. The conditions include: double malar disease; cervical caries; tuberculosis of the spine; spinal caries; lumbar caries; tuberculous disease of the hip; septic tuberculosis of the hip with amyloid disease; bony ankylosis; dorso-lumbar caries with double psoas abscess; tuberculous disease of the knee joint; lordosis; x-ray of tuberculous ulna; ascites following congenital syphilitic cirrhosis of the liver; and staphylococcal arthritis. Also photographs of treatments including sun treatment; celluloid jackets; nurses making plaster casts; swinging back-door splint; and spinal board on a tilted stand.
