Description Of ItemThe volume is divided into short chapters including the headings: burnt sponge; saturnine preparations; corns; hoarseness and loss of voice; ancylosis, white swelling of the knee; uteri morbi; celsus; tympanites, flatulence and carminatives; the plague; gutta rosarea, morphew and other foulnesses of the face; and of the air in the blood vessels and in other parts of the body.

Inserted at p54 is a printed advertisement for Mr Goulard's extract of saturn. Inserted at p88 is a copy of The London Chronicle with an article on a nephritic complaint, dated 1771 and a printed article 'Review of the discovery of the solvent power of fixed air on the urinary calculus, of the application of this remedy to other disorders of the kidneys and bladder, and of the success which has attended the use of it', dated 1778. Inserted at p161 is a case note on Reverend Mr Chatto, dated 1770. Inserted at p209 is a printed copy of 'Directions for administering the medicine that cures fluxes in His Majesty's navy'. Attached to p287 is a letter from Dr Flint with a case note, dated 1779. Inserted at p313 is a cure for cancers by Dr Holcombe, dated 1777. Inserted at p320 are recipes for making sour crout [sauerkraut] and wort. Inserted at p329 is a letter from Dr Knox on jaundice, dated 1771. Pages 19-20, 67-68, 138-139, 231-234, 310-322, 331-332 have been cut out. The volume is a draft copy with numerous amendments. There is an extra index to additional articles at the front and the index of names and places is at the rear. Dated from an entry on p287.
