| Description Of Item | From the collection of Sir Henry Sinderson. The tablet gives an account of grain issued to the persons named. On the reverse it gives the measurement of two fields planted with trees. It is not dated but is written in the Sumerian script of the 3rd Dynasty of Ur around 1900 BC. Includes a letter describing the item from D J Wiseman, Assistant Keeper of the Department of Western Asiatic Antiquities at the British Museum, dated 3rd December 1958. The tablet is in a presentation box with a descriptive silver plaque. It was donated to the College by Sir Henry Sinderson Pasha. |
