| Description Of Item | This section contains a number of volumes of lecture notes but only some of these are by Simpson himself. Ideally those lecture notes taken by his students would not be in this collection but in many cases the author(s) can no longer be identified. Therefore it was decided that those that could not be identified should be kept in the Simpson collection but a distinction made between those by him and by others. Therefore series SJY/1/1/ is for volumes by Simpson and SJY/1/2/ is for those by others. It should be noted that there are some volumes in the second series which were not by Simpson but have been signed by him on the flyleaf possibly because they were submitted as course work etc. |
