HistoryGordon lectured at 9 Surgeon's Square, Edinburgh from 1808-1818. Apart from his teaching activities he is best known for his work 'Observations on the Structure of the Brain, comprising an Estimate of the Claims of Drs Gall and Spurzheim to Discovery in the Anatomy of that Organ' which was instrumental in discrediting phrenology.
