  <dc:description>Angus Erskine Stuart was born in 1925 in Partick, Glasgow. His father was James Erskine Stuart. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh in 1957. He completed a PhD in 1958, with the title of his thesis being ‘Observations on the pathology of the thyroid gland with special reference to auto-immunity’. He was a reader in pathology at the University of Edinburgh in the 1970s He published a number of works including The Reticulo-endothelial System (1970), The Spleen (1973) and Applied Surgical Pathology (1975). He was Emeritus Professor of Pathology. He married Ellison Diana de Marco, a teacher, in 1957. He had three children (one deceased) and four grandchildren. He died on the Isle of Skye in 2019.
