Letter from William Pulteney Alison, Heriot Row, [Edinburgh], Scotland to John Abercrombie

Alison has been reading Abercrombie's work on the pathology of the intestinal canal 'with much pleasure' but disagrees with him on the inflammation of the abdomen. He discusses different forms of the disease and lists nine points concerning inflammation of mucous membrane which suggest that it was not peritoneal inflammation which caused the symptoms Abercrombie found. He looks forward to seeing Abercrombie's promised work on inflammation of the villous coat. No year given but estimated from the publication date of Abercrombie's work.
