| Description Of Item | The previous catalogue had a number of sections for Alison's writings: articles/essays titled; articles/essays untitled; books; books chapters for; books outlines for; examinations; experiments; extracts from other writers; notes for lectures; and miscellaneous. Within each division the structure appears to have been approximately alphabetical which means that items on the same subject may not be listed together. As it is impossible to reconstruct how Alison kept his papers, it was decided to retain some of this structure, keeping the separation between essays and books. Otherwise the items are catalogued as they were listed in the previous catalogue. |
