Description Of ItemPress cutting from an unknown publication, published in October 1865. Reports a case of ‘death by excessive drinking’. The wife of a tradesman in Gray’s Inn Road, London, died suddenly after having started to drink port wine in excess, following the death of one of her children. Her husband had to separated himself from her. ‘Medical evidence’ proved that her ‘death was caused by drinking’, which provoked an ‘effusion on the brain’.
