Description Of ItemFrom the front the cases give the patient's name and details of the labour and each one is titled with the main issue in the case, for example 'a delivery where the buttocks presented'. The cases are dated 7 August 1739 to 20 March 1750 and are indexed 13 pages after p136. Loose prescription for worms included at p84. After the index the handwriting changes and consists of pages 11-110 of a general medical text divided by disease and including prescriptions and treatment. A note on the flyleaf reads 'These cases happd [happened] from the year 1739 to 1750 as wrote by some practitr [practitioner] in Surrey - are 120 in umber and were purchased by M Garthsh [Garthshore] at a saleman June 24 1769'. Above it is written 'Memo - These cases in general were pen'd down only as memorandums to occur to occasionally. Consequently by no means accurately drawn up, or intended for any inspection but my own'.

From the reverse the book is titled ['F or J?] Thatcer March 2 1777 [Mugliston?] Obiit Aprilis 1777' and consists of prescriptions some for named conditions or patients.
