| Description Of Item | The volume starts in one handwriting and ends in another so may have been started by Bruce's father Sir Alexander Bruce. Case notes give the name of the patient, age, date of admission, referring doctor and case notes. Includes a letter at p118 next to the case note to which it refers addressed to Dr Bruce from W L Cullen, St Boswells. The addressee is more likely to be Bruce's father as Bruce himself had not graduated in medicine at the time the letter is dated. Also, at p268, is a calling card for Morton Burnet with Alexander Ninian Bruce's address on the reverse wrapped in an advertisement for tablets. Alphabetical index by patient's name at the start of the volume almost entirely in the second (probably Bruce junior's) handwriting. |
