Description Of ItemCopy of a letter in which Ewart writes of Dr Baylie's satisfaction with Cullen's advice (case of Mr Heynitz - see CUL/1/3/8). Heynitz had consulted 'First Lines' and appreciated the scientifc principles used. He said 'had there been more Cullens the progress of the science must have been infinitely greater'. All the editions of First Lines have been translated into German. Ewart sent a copy of First Lines to La Grange, the mathematician, who 'considers it as the only classical book existing on the practice of physic'. La Grange has also given Ewart the continuation and conclusion of a memoir which he will send on to Dr Robison. It is not known to whom the letter is addresed but Ewart asks his correspondent to give his compliments to Dr Gregory and Dr Monro and corrects his English. Undated. In index.
