| Description Of Item | Lists of private patients delivered by Dr Hamilton's and Dr [James Young] Simpson's pupils. Each entry gives the patient's name, address, date delivered, nature of the labour (natural, laborious, preternatural, complex), sex of the child, event (health of mother and child), which pregnancy (first, second etc), how much sugar and tea received and name of the person doing the delivery. Deliveries by Dr Hamilton's pupils up to May 1842 and by Dr Simpson's pupils from May 1842 to April 1845. After May 1842 there are statistics for the number and type of delivery from 1 January 1841 to 14 May 1842. Although this is volume 3, previous volumes are wanting. |
