Excerpt one: on the dangers of chloral hydrate. Details Jolly’s paper on the subject which notes in the course of two years when Jolly employed chloral hydrate as a cure for ‘diseases in the mind’ – sudden death occurred in two cases after a small dose.

Excerpt two: on Elephantiasis Arabum (also known as Lymphatic filariasis) treatment by milk. Details Civil Medical Officer of Balasore Mr Richards’ contribution to the topic. Richards confirmed the observations of Doctors Payne and Fawcus. Asserts that a purely milk diet aided by quinine and iodine oil to the affect limb aided healing.

Excerpt three: on fever and cholera details Surgeon-Major [Alexander] Smith of the British Medical Service wrote an article on the subject. Details how Smith’s theory asserts that the varieties of non-contagious fever and cholera are different degrees of an identical pathological process consisting of a functional disturbance of the nervous system.
