Excerpt one, dated May and June 1874: regards the treatment of tetanus by chloral. Details a discussion on the topic at the Société de Chirurgie of Paris between Doctor Chauvel, of Hauvre, Doctor [Aristide Auguste Stanislas] Verneuil, and Doctor [Paul Jules] Tillaux, Doctor Boinet, and Doctor [Léon Clément] Lefort [Le Fort]. Verneuil mentions two successful cases of treatment using chloral by Doctor Richelot.

Excerpt two, dated 12 May 1874, written by Doctor Chevreir, of Paris: notes how effervescent water contains the tribasic phosphate of lime. Details earlier research on the effects of phosphate dissolved in lactic acid – to great effect. Notes Doctor Oeffinger as being convinced of the effectiveness of the remedy.

Excerpt three, dated 13 June 1873, by Doctor Henry Blanc: details information on the treatment of phthisis using phosphate of lime and the juice of raw meat. Blanc states that such treatments are effective and details precise instructions for use. Notes how the treatment was advocated previously by Professor Fuster, of Montpellier.
