Description Of ItemPress cutting of an article from the Medical Press and Circular, published 21 February 1866, written by Franciscus Donders and translated from Dutch by William Danie Moore from an 1864 issue of Nederlandsch Archief voor Genees- en Natuurkunde. Franciscus Donders wrote that the action of yawning comes with an abdominal respiration, while the action of sighing comes from a thoracic respiration. He concluded that he has not tested his theory on women. From the collection of Thomas Laycock.
