Description Of ItemInscription on front flyleaf 'Alexander Morison April 23rd 1870'. A statement of purpose on the first page gives his object as 'to chronicle those events which I may consider more or less important and those thoughts which I may desire worthy of preservation and the remembrance of which may be pleasing or instructive'. Only part of the volume is used. He starts his entries in April 1870 and finishes in May 1872 with his appointment at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but he includes reminiscences from his earlier life back to 1867. Includes a newspaper cutting of his examination results and a sketch on the back flyleaf which may be a self-portrait.
