| Description Of Item | From the papers of Richard Poole. A note on the flyleaf reads 'Copy of the minutes of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh from 18th January 1682 to 22nd December 1684 and from 6th December 1694 to 3rd August 1725. The minutes from 22nd December 1684 to 6th December 1694 [crossed out and replaced with 1693] appear never to have been engrossed into the minute book of the College'. It is signed by Alexander Boswell, clerk to the Royal College. A further note reads 'By the minute of the College dated 12th January 1704 a Committee was appointed to delete certain minutes of the College, they were all included in this copy. AB'. Poole writes in his catalogue entry that the minutes were copied by a clerk of Boswell's but inaccurately so as not 'to be relied on in any matter of importance'. It is not known when the copy was made.
The minutes in the book are actually dated 18th January 1682 to 22nd December 1684 and 21st March 1693 to 3rd August 1725. |
