TitleCorrespondence of the Scottish Medical Service Emergency Committee with doctors
Date1914 - 1915
TermFirst World War
Description Of ItemThis series contains correspondence between Norman Walker, the convener of the Committee, and individual doctors concerning their circumstances. Few files have more than two or three letters (unless otherwise stated in the entry) but often there is also a more extensive file in the main file series, SMC/2/1. It is not known why these letters were kept separately unless it was an earlier series that was discontinued. The files were originally in three packets. Although part of the series is arranged geographically, from SMC/2/3/34 the files are arranged by the doctor's name. The second of the two packets by doctor's name, SMC/2/3/69-SMC/2/3/103, was alphabetical. Correspondence is both manuscript and typed.

Any reference to the South-Eastern Counties division means the counties of Berwickshire, Selkirkshire, Peeblesshire and Roxburghshire.
