Description Of Item | Currie presumably compiled these bundles while researching his book. Evidence for the fact that he compiled them, rather than them having been compiled by the Committee itself, is in two letters by him dated 1921 in SMC/6/1/1. As well as what are presumably his own notes and calculations, he included 'cherry-picked' information from throughout the Committee's records including unique material which cannot now be reunited with its original file. For example in SMC/6/1/3 there is the first page of the Register of Local Record at SMC/3/1/1. A lot of this collected information is duplicated elsewhere in the collection, particularly SMC/4, and although not separately described here, has been retained to indicate the papers Currie considered important. |
