Description Of ItemLecture notes by Thomas Laycock about chronic structural diseases of the heart. It discusses heart diseases broadly but most detail concerns valvular diseases. Heart murmurs are discussed, including systolic murmurs, and aortic regurgitation is also described. Symptoms and treatment are considered. A press cutting from the 17 December 1847 issue of the London Medical Gazette has been pasted in. Its two columns have been pasted in separately. It describes the case of women with a ‘fibro-plastic’ growth on her left auricle, discussed at the meeting of the Pathological Society of London on 6 December 1847. The growth was examined by Edward Lloyd. The notes contain three lists of numbers related to heart-related illustrations from the collection of John Thomas. Two of these lists are identical. One list is written by Thomas Laycock.
