| Description Of Item | Plain glass jar graduated to 16 fluid drachms with metal screw top housing the filler, inlet and outlet tubes. The inlet tube is inscribed ‘Bellows’. The danger of inhaling liquid chloroform is reduced by the longer afferent tube being enclosed within a shorter efferent tube, together with an anti-splash device – a small gap between the two acting as the efferent port. In addition, the lower end of the afferent tube incorporates a spring-loaded ball valve so that air or liquid cannot be pumped in the wrong direction. Reference: Cover Note.
