The first patient was a 33-year-old discharged soldier named M.W. who was admitted to the Queen’s Hospital, Birmingham, on 26 September 1866 and died on 24 November 1866. The second patient was a 49-year-old labourer named J.N. who become an outpatient at the Queen’s Hospital on 21 September 1866. The article includes traces of both patients’ heartbeats.
