Description Of ItemA press cutting from the Edinburgh Veterinary Review of an article about two cases of cardiac polyps in animals, written by Arthur Gamgee. He describes in detail a heart that he observed at the New Veterinary College, Edinburgh. An illustration of this heart is included in the item. He also describes the heart of a 9-year-old ox that was preserved in the University of Bologna’s museum. Arthur Gamgee’s brother John Gamgee observed the notes about this case, written by Antonio Alessandrini, in the University of Bologna’s archives. Both hearts are described in detail and measurements are listed. Research on cardiac polyps by James Hope, William Stokes, Carl von Rokitansky and James Wardrop is discussed.
