| Description Of Item | Plain glass jar graduated to 16 fluid drachms with metal screw top (inscribed ‘British made’) housing the filler, inlet and outlet tubes. The inlet tube is inscribed ‘B’ for bellows. A hook is provided on the screw top to hang the bottle vertically from the lapel. The danger of inhaling liquid chloroform is reduced by the longer afferent tube being enclosed within a shorter efferent tube, together with an anti-splash device – a small gap between the two acting as the efferent port.
